Brett Haircut's Oral Probe

Duration: 8 mins. Made in: Winter 2004. Dir. Inks, Mark Watson. Cameras and editing by Mark Watson. Starring: Andy S. Wade (me).

My first comedy, and first work with other people. This was ace fun! we ran around town at night, filming drunk people and asking them ridiculous questions, most of which I'd ad-libbed on the spot. My breif was to do a Brass Eye-style spoof documentary about violence in the city centre of my home city. I filled my brief.

Mark "Zaskar" Watson hosts this film and the next two on his site, zaskarfilms.com.

Expect to see more of Brett soon!

Fun With Blades

Duration: 8 mins. Made in: Summer 2004. Dir. Andy S. Wade (me) Starring: Andy S. Wade (me), some random junkie.

This horror scared even me. Lots of fun with special effects and better titling. Immensely enjoyed shooting the outdoors scenes as well, putting the camera on walls and things to get that "CCTV" look. My unwitting co-star was some random junkie who'd tried to rip off my bag as I walked towards the camera, to pick it up. I turned around, went up to him and said "That's mine!". Then when I got the footage home, I realised I had something I could use... the rest is editing.

It did suffer from some "generation loss" re-compressing it again and again caused it to lose quality big time, although I'm told the footage has a kind of Super Eight feel... aw, fuck it, you be da judge.

About this title frame at the end- the website indicated is out of date. I can't seem to access the thing to update it. Dream Machine

Duration: 8 mins. Made in: Summer 2003. Dir. Andy S. Wade (me) Starring: Inks.

A pop video for a Cure track (oh God protect me from the lawyers!) based on the premise that one day it might be possible to video your dreams. It examines the theme of the human predator in a wierd groovy-trousered urban crime setting crossed with the Gothic shtick of ghouls and graveyards.

I filmed this in a day with my then new solid state vid camera, and bulked it up with library footage I'd shot earlier.

Then after editing, I did some more filming, mainly around a derelict office tower in town.

I'm quietly satisfied with the result- the editing was the hardest part, all I had was a pirated copy of Apple Quicktime, VirtualDub. For titling I used Photoshop (old Win3.1 version), and a really old program called AVI Constructor. It's crippleware, and you can only do four frames at a time, before the "register now!" message cripples it.

The Beirut Building

Duration: Don't know. Made in: 2002 or '03, can't remember. Dir. Andy Wade (me) Starring: Andy S. Wade (Voiceover), Liam (man in film).

My very first film to go on the web. No titles or anything. Just me and a friend wandering around an empty building.

A while back me and a chum wandered into this derelict part of town, about a couple of streets that are completely abandoned and overgrown. I took my camera and had a good laff filming the ascent of this incredibly dangerous tower block that is the major part of the area.

Westmoreland House

Dir. Inks Starring: Nausicca (Youth), Andy Wade, Arran (blink and you'll miss us)

My mate Inks had the same idea and produced an arty docu-flick about the same place; it took him ages and the end result is a very good, very slick production. Lotta stairs in it though.

He did put loads more work into it than me, and hosts both films!
